Wow. I got shivers from that. Like you said, who knew? Somehow, knowing that that was written by a Republican from Missouri makes me feel a whole lot better about our possibilities as a country.
I think he pegged it with "Moderate Christians are less certain about when and how our beliefs can be translated into statutory form, not because of a lack of faith in God but because of a healthy acknowledgement of the limitations of human beings."
Over and over I see this as the basic difference between fundamentalists (Christian, Muslim, or other) and every body else. Now if we could just identify and focus on the commonalities shared by fundamentalists and the rest of us, maybe we could make some headway.
